Ascension of Jesus ChristThe Transfiguration of Jesus Christ Beatitudes Sermon on the Mount of Jesus Christ Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God
Hi Mike - these are my answers (or non-answers, I really don't have any answers :-)

1. What if heaven is here/now? What if time is an illusion and what is to come, and what came before, is really all encompassed in NOW? What if it is an illusion of our minds to have to draw things out into past and present and future? What if death is an awakening to ever-presence, ever-now, and everything (and everyone) that we have known and experienced in our lives becomes focused and accessible in one moment? What if the best, and only real thing, that we could do in our lives was to be present and awake to NOW, and that, in some way, got us closer to (and beyond) the notion of "heaven and hereafter".

2. I tend to agree with those who proclaim: either we all go to heaven, or we all don't go. (what if your reward for doing good deeds is seeing others, who didn't do good deeds, go to heaven because of your good deeds? what if someone you loved would not go to heaven because they did not do good deeds? would you sacrifice heaven, yourself, to be with the person you loved?)

Here is a quote from Karen Armstrong: "In the course of my studies, I have discovered that the religious quest is not about discovering "the truth" or "The meaning of life", but about living as intensely as possible here and now. THe idea is not to latch on to some superhuman personality or to "get to heaven" but to discover how to be fully human ..."
